The Wonder Of Microfiber Cloths

I was at Chinatown recently and I stumbled upon a street-hawker selling these "Magic Cloths". Initially, I didn't pay much attention to his sales pitch. Then he came up to me and asked me to be his demo aid. He took my finger and rub it on some dirty grease. Then he used a dry cloth to try to clean it off. Being exposed to generators maintenance, I know how stubborn grease can be on our hands. So I wasn't surprised that that dry cloth didn't work and I thought, "Now I'm f#^#%.. my fingers are stained"...

Then he dipped that dry cloth into some tap water and started cleaning my finger again. And to my surprise, the grease came off with just water and no chemicals or soap. What surprised me more was that my finger didn't have that sticky, grimly, greasey feeling on it.

The next thing he did really blew me away. By now, the cloth was stained with dirty grease. He ran the cloth under a running tap and the cloth was cleaned. No chemicals, no washing agents. And me being me, I parted with $12.00 for 2 pieces of "Magic Cloths" each no larger than a hanky.

When I got home, I used it to clean my stove and my oven. And true enough, I didn't have to use any chemicals or cleaning liquids. But of course, for very stubborn grime you need to clean it a few more times.

Fascinated by this, I started searching for this wonder product on the internet and I learnt that these "Magic Cloths" are Microfiber Cloths. Here's a link that give you much a quick summary of what it really is and what it can be used for.

I also found a video of a similar street-hawker demonstrating the product. Check out the video here.

Cheers.
