The Phantom is now looking for a new habitat (yes, again.. his present lease running out soon)... What will he be looking at? Well, the Phantom plans to buy an apartment as that would make more sense than renting one... The place that he's looking for could be one of those old, small HDB walk-up apartments around Tiong Bahru or maybe one of those old 2-storey, 'singles-eligible' HDB terraces at Balestier or Stirling that is not more than $350K... HDB coz he's a bankrupt now (was officially declared a bankrupt on 16 Aug 2002) and the only means of owning a place is thru his CPF (and yes, he's got quite a sum in there)...
His new domain would not be anything lavish but something cozy and functional with some basic luxuries... The decor would spell rustic and at the same time trendy... Older apartments would usually offer higher ceilings that would really make floor to ceiling windows exceptionally charming... If it has a balcony, it would be nice. But if not, it won't hurt either... The floors could be wood or marble... The wall colours would make the place bright so he's likely stick to white or beige... Likewise for the kitchen & bathroom tiles...
The Phantom appreciates an open concept... much like the "enclosure-free" kinda bachelor lofts in Boston... Apart from the bathrooms & perhaps the bedroom that may be enclosed, the rest of the apartment may not have walls dividing... he wouldn't even mind not having walls for his bedroom... afterall, he is staying alone... So, if there's a place like that available, he would be very keen...
There wouldn't be much display items or furniture as they would only cloud the openness... but the main reason is coz, he dun have much cash for all these... His buddies will be helping out with the renovation costs but he's keeping everything simple...
He is also very intimate with his sense of scents... Thus, you'd probably find potpourris of dried flowers & aroma-therapy oils all over the loft...
The Phantom's sanctuary within his domain is his bathroom... not that he spend an awful amount of his time there, but he just has a soft spot for a bright and squeaky clean bathroom with scents of potpourri of dried flowers throughout... There'd be a frameless glass shower screen (courtesy from Richard, his 1st ex-wife, Pauline's cousin) and he is even contemplating to put a jacuzzi bath in there (looking for sponsors... *wink*...)
His other place of nesting is his bedroom. He adores a Kingsize bed with well-washed and pressed linen... he loves the feeling of having skin-contact with the linen... so sexy rite? ... *wink* ... He would also have soft lightings... (cheaper also mah)... burning scented aroma-therapy oils... full-length drapes in satin and lace... and... a good acoustic hi-fi that will certainly make his bedroom a dreamland...
So let's wish him luck in his finding his new habitat... You can be sure that his domain is gonna match his personality... chic, cool and classy... Stay tuned for more updates ...
