Hi guys,
Since my last update, a lot had happened... Iggi had left for England (boy, do I miss him); I've lost my job; and I spent 2 weeks in prison for breaking my ex-wife's window over Iggi's custody issues.
Iggi left for England on 2nd October 2004, a day after I went to prison. Before he left, he asked me why was I so stupid as not to run away after breaking the window but waited for the police to arrive. I told him that sometimes in life we make mistakes. Running away is only gonna let the guilt come back to haunt us later. We have to own up to our mistakes bravely, face whatever punishment willingly and refrain from making that mistake again. Only then can we hold our heads up high. Only then can we make the people we love, proud and not ashamed. After that, Iggi said, "I'm proud of you dad." I was so touched and glad that my son isn't ashamed that his dad is an ex-convict.
Because of my imprisonment, I lost my job. I was asked to leave immediately after they found out that I will be going to prison. The real truth was, the company was not doing well and was taking this opportunity to trim their labour cost. I fought my case with the Ministry of Manpower for wrongful dismissal and I was awarded 2 weeks salary-in-lieu as compensation.
Now, I decided to make a come-back in the real estate industry. Thankfully, a big bunch of agents whom I've led during those days when I was the Operations Manager at a Real Estate firm rallied behind me for my come-back. With their faith in my leadership, I'm now back in the industry (with another agency though). But, agents don't have a basic pay. Our renumeration is strictly commission based so its gonna be pure hardwork.
As for my 2 weeks at the Queenstown Remand Prison, all I can say is that it was hell. Will elaborate on it in my next newsletter. The only water source in my cell was the toilet bowl and THAT was the least of all. So, you can imagine what other worse things that I experienced in there.
In any case, I am looking for this year to end as 2004 is one that I hope to forget. In the forthcoming year, 2005,
- I hope to be discharged from my bankruptcy,
- I hope to see Iggi in summer,
- I hope to host the Wedding Fairytale that we've all been waiting for,
- I hope to make and save some money to buy a flat,
- and last but not least, I hope to bring mom & dad for a holiday.
